ARIS now allows players to capture geo-tagged audio recordings, photos and videos! The best part is that this activity fits into the standard requirements system so the game can know whether they have taken a sample at a particular location. This means new NPCs can appear, new conversions are possible, etc once a particular “data collection quest” is complete.

To get the data back out, ARIS is generating a .kml file so back in the classroom the activity can be debriefed and the media files can be collected and remixed. Here is a sample kml feed from the development server.

We are really excited to see how this will play out in practice in the ARIS 1.0 release coming at GLS on June 9th.
